HISTORY

The geographical area, now defined as Greece, has been colonized since the dawn of mankind, with findings dating back to at least 200000 BC. Well-known civilizations, such as the Cycladic (3000 BC), Minoan (1700 BC) and Mycenaean (1200 BC-Trojan War) pre-date Classical Greece, with numerous references to ancient Athens (Socrates) and ancient Sparta (Leonidas) mentioning its culture and arts.

This was followed by the Epic of Alexander the Great (330 BC), the Hellenistic period (170 BC), the Roman (120 AD) and the Byzantine Empires (330 AD–1453 AD). After a period of Ottoman dominion, Greece was able to regain its independence in 1821, participated in both World Wars on the side of the Allies (UK, USA, France) and today is one of the early members of the European Union, a member of NATO and all International Organizations.

Being the homeland of Democracy, Medicine and  all sciences, is the reason that words such as mathematics, geography, democracy, harmony, organization, energy, dialogue, theatre, music, fantasy are Greek and being used worldwide.

The Greeks have a particular language (one of the most ancient among the oldest civilizations), the  majority of them identify as Orthodox Christians and have ethnic and cultural homogeneity.

Greece is geographically one of the most beautiful regions of Europe with an excellent climate and unique agricultural products such as its vegetables and olive oil. It is also considered that its varied cuisine (Mediterranean) is one of the most delicious and healthy according to the WHO.

Tourism is one of Greece’s main industries considering among other reasons, that it is the safest country to travel to, attracting up to four times the number of tourists per year than its population.
