It was established in 1984 in Marousi, with the aim of providing high quality healthcare services in Greece. It exhibited high growth rates, set new standards in the field of healthcare and offered high quality services, comparable to those of the most modern nursing institutions in Western Europe and the U.S.A.

Athens Medical Center is comprised of the General Hospital and the Pediatrics Center of Athens.
It has a capacity of 319 beds (including the Pediatrics Center), supported by 19 operating rooms, and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipped with 24 beds. Along with its fully equipped and well-staffed laboratories, the hospital meets the needs for diagnosis and treatment of any case, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Athens Medical Center has received the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications for its overall services and the ISO 22000:2005 certification for its catering services. In addition, it has received the international TEMOS certification for “Quality in International Patient Care” and for “Excellence in Medical Tourism”. Last but not least, Athens Medical Center was included in the “Best Hospitals Worldwide 2014 & 2015” and the “Preferred Partner Hospital 2016, 2017 & 2018” lists of the Diplomatic Council (DC).
The continuous improvement of the quality of the services provided, through the development of quality management systems, the investments in cutting-edge equipment and technology, the staffing with highly trained medical, nursing and administrative personnel, have firmly established the Athens Medical Center as one of the most advanced and reputable hospitals in the country.
Several of Athens Medical Center’s departments constitute Centers of Reference, Centers of Excellence or Specialized Centers in Europe and the world. Indicatively, these include the Department of General, Laparoscopic, Bariatric and Robotic Surgery (Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery by the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity – IFSO), the Department of Hand & Upper Limb Surgery, Orthopedic Reconstructive Microsurgery (Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand – FESSH), the Breast Clinic (full member of the international Breast Centers Network) and the Pediatric Radiology Department of the Pediatrics Center of Athens as a “Center for the Assessment of Medical Technology” (GE Healthcare). Furthermore, Athens Medical Center has been certified by the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO) as a Center for Continuing Education and Postgraduate Studies.
